Collectors of skin science macabre

collectors are sometimes quite bizarre creatures but collecting pieces of tattooed skin and preserved in formaldehyde ... leave me, rather than stucco, formalin ...

At Department Forensic Medicine of Jagiellonian University in Krakow , Poland , there is a collection of 60 pieces of tattoo from skin of prisoners
, removed after their death, a prison nearby
research and cataloging date from the '60s and the purpose of this astonishing collection was to identify the criminal code shown in the drawings depicted in tattoos.

Thieves, murderers, pimps, rapists, ... each applicant with an icon, more or less stylized or freely interpreted.
tatuaggi, formaldeide, carcerati
But under the dictatorial regime, then the research is questionable because in nation's prisons, alongside common criminals and authentic, there were political dissidents and even innocent, we do not know the number and extent tattooed ... tatuaggi, tattoo, collezione, Polonia
The study of the language of tattoos is not limited to this case, there are more research on Russian prison tattoos, Italian, French and English, and among scholars of this strange piùappassionati was a subject of a Japanese doctor, Fukushi Masaichi (1878-1956) who collected pieces of tattooed skin, now preserved at the University of Tokyo, and from the epidermis of free people, with the consent of the removal of their tattoo to death, and sometimes for a fee, for this small graphic contribution to science ...
